Captain Rex (Cold Weather Gear)
Accessories
Captain Rex is packaged with two blasters, a blaster rifle, a missile launcher with missile, removable shoulder pads, removable helmet, and a backpack.
Look and Feel
This is a fantastic looking figure depicting Captain Rex as he is seen in the episode Trespass. Rex has some great paint apps and the design of the figure harkens back to the Snowtrooper from the Empire Strikes Back. He comes with tons of extras and removable parts to display Rex in any way you would like. The removable parts are not without their issues, however. I have had some issue moving Rex's arms around without knocking off his shoulder pads and my son has already lost one on his figure. The helmet does stay on rather well, but again for children this can be another piece that gets lost pretty quick. I love the look of the backpack, but like most backpacks it is attached with a peg hole which can also lead to lost parts. For a collector, however, he is a fantastic figure to display as he really looks fantastic from his grayish silver jumpsuit to incredible deco on his helmet.
Articulation
Captain Rex has ball-hinged joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows and knees. He also features a swivel joints in the wrists, waist, and hips. Sadly yet again we get a Clone Wars figure without ankle articulation and due to the figures oversized helmet, the range of motion is restricted in the ball-hinged joint.
Overall Reaction
This figure would have been and out of the park must buy figure if it had ankle articulation. Rex is still a solid figure and is nice addition to a Clone Wars collection. I do with that Hasbro had made the helmet and shoulder pads non-removable as you don't see Rex with them off in the episode, but I understand the added play value. Even with the figures issues I do think this is a great figure to pick up and will go well with all the other cold weather gear figures from this line.
