The Vintage Collection
Wave 2
#13
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Accessories
Anakin Skywalker is packaged with his lightsaber, lightsaber hilt, and removable robe.

Look and Feel
Anakin Skywalker was released in the TAC line and rereleased in the Saga Legends line. This incarnation of the character now has Sith eyes to replicate the scene on Mustafar. At first glance, I was very pleased with the way Hasbro did the head sculpt and paint app. His Sith eyes certainly stand out and this is probably the best likeness of Anakin Skywalker to date. After opening the figure I was very pleased to see the lightsaber hilt that can be clipped on to Anakin's belt, but was also very confused as to why the activated lightsaber has a peg to also clip the lightsaber to his belt. What would be the purpose of this? Seems pretty dangerous to me to have an activated lightsaber swinging around down there. Moving on I was please to see that the figure still has a mix of molded plastic and soft goods to give a more realistic look. I was disappointed, however at the choice of color for Anakin's robe. In the movie it seems that his robe is a very dark brown almost boarding on black. The robe that comes with this action figure is not nearly as dark. That aside, the figure delivers even more on the articultion end.

Articulation
Anakin has ball-hinged joints in the neck, shoulders, torso, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles. He has swivel joints in the wrists and waist. I was very please to see that Hasbro has upgraded the elbow articulation from swivel to ball jointed and definitely make this figure easier to pose.

Overall Reaction
Like other figures in this wave one has to decide if the upgrades to the current figure warrant another $8.00 purchase for a character they already have. For my money this figure delivers. To have a much better sculpted head and the Sith eyes along with ball jointed articulation in the elbows satisfied me enough to plunk down my cash. Repacks notwithstanding, this figure is my pick of the wave as it has the least amount of flaws. Anakin has a great look and the articulation to pose him any way I could want. As for the issues I have, I can always cut off the peg for the activated lightsaber as I would never use that feature, and the robe is off by a couple of shades of brown.
