Luke Skywalker - Medical Frigate

Accessories
Luke comes with his blue lightsaber which he technically lost prior to the medical frigate, but hey it is an extra lightsaber for ya! He also comes with a small silver device which on the internet is described as a comlink, but I think it looks more like a medical implement.  Luke also comes with his “bathrobe” to keep his chest covered because after all space is cold. Finally, Luke is packed with a droid part to the build-a-droid U-3PO.

Look and Feel
This figure has had me worried since early photos were released.  The bathrobe, to me, looked too bulky and seemed like a waste of time as it completely covers the right forearm for which this figure was created.  After seeing this figure in my hands I actually don’t mind the robe except for the enormous straps that are tied at the front.  The sculpt of the head is probably the best one out there in my opinion and has me thinking about picking up another just to head swap with.  The San Diego Comic Con figure seems to be a great candidate for a swap!  The panel that shows the mechanical workings in Luke’s repaired forearm is fairly detailed due to the size of the area.  As far as the rest of his upper body, it is all downhill.  Without his robe Luke looks awful in my opinion due to the articulation in his chest and waist. 

Articulation
I am very pleased with the articulation in this figure as Luke has it all the places you would expect it.  He has ball-hinged joints in the neck, shoulder, waist, elbows, knees, and ankles.  The only area he doesn’t have a ball-hinged joint is the forearm where both swivel as to be expected.

Overall Reaction
I picked up this figure primarily to get the droid piece, but what I realized after I got him opened is that I really like the figure.  I am not sure where I will use him as there is no Medical Frigate toy, but perhaps down the road I can create a cool diorama for him.  If you’re looking for play value… this is not your figure.
