VINTAGE FIGURES THAT STILL NEED TO BE MADE

*UPDATE 3/14/10: One of the more popular questions in the Star Wars collecting universe is...

What vintage figures have yet to be re-made in the modern line (not counting droids and ewoks)? I've decided to put together a semi-definitive list that can be updated when new information comes in or a figure is crossed off. I have broken the list into 2 categories:

- figures that definitely need to be re-made
and
- figures that are in dispute as to whether or not they still need to be made.

Recent figures crossed off of the list:
Bespin Guard (black): Legacy Collection
Warok: Battle for Endor Battle Pack
Vintage Klaatu: confirmed by Hasbro in pre-production sketches for the new Vintage Collection

The following figures definitely remain un-updated:

1. Vintage Death Squad Commander - Let's face it, the Death Squad Commander would be a simple repaint for Hasbro. This is an easy one to cross off the list so let's get to it...

2. Vintage Hoth Rebel Commander - There was some debate as to whether or not the POTF2 Hoth Rebel Soldier is the Hoth commander. He is clearly not and was only identified on the package as "Hoth Rebel Soldier". Other Hoth commanders were made (Derlin & Rieekan) but they were inside Echo Base commanders. The vintage figure is an outside commander who is dressed and ready for battle. Therefore, Hasbro needs to re-make this awesome figure with all the bells and whistles.

3. Vintage Hoth Rebel Soldier - But I thought Hasbro has made about 5 Hoth Rebel Soldiers in the modern line? Well, yes but they never re-did the vintage one. The vintage Hoth Rebel Soldier is actually an Echo Base Trooper seen inside the base. The modern Hoth Rebel Soldiers ( POTF2, Saga, and Legacy) were those seen outside during the battle of Hoth. Hasbro, our Hoth dioramas definately need this figure ASAP.

4. Vintage Nikto - Most fans know the original version still needs to be produced. If you compare the old and new versions you'll see they're wearing different outfits. I believe the original was the skiff guard version seen on the Skiff (duh) and the new one is another character. There was more than one version of the Nikto species in Jabba's Palace. Hasbro, this is one figure that really needs an update. Please make it happen!

5. Vintage Barada - the same thing that applies to Nikto also applies to the vintage Barada. If you compare the old and new versions, you'll see they're slightly different. In fact they are 2 different characters as evidenced by the pics below. This is yet another must-update Jabba's denzien.

6. Vintage Ewok Lumat - As unpopular as the Ewoks were in Jedi, these figures seem to fly off the shelves. This might be the last ewok that needs to be made. There might be one more but I will discuss that later...

Lumat

7. Vintage Imperial Dignitary - The versions produced of Janus Greejatus and Kren Blista-Vinee are clearly different characters than the vintage one who's name I can't seem to recall. I'm sure most collectors would love an update for their Death Star procession dioramas.

The following figure is in dispute as to whether or not it remains updated:

8. Vintage Gonk Droid - the old and new versions are different colors. The original blue was the one seen in the Lars' Homestead. Check out the Gonk comparison. Different colored Gonk Droids did exist in Star Wars. So do we need a new one or is this just a coloring mistake or upgrade? I don't know. I'm happy with the new one we got but I wouldn't mind a blue one in vintage style.

Making the grand total of vintage figures to be re-made somewhere from 7 to 8 depending on your view. Forget the Droids and Ewoks line. They stunk! If I missed anyone or you'd like to suggest some corrections,
